Frequently asked questions

Common questions about working with FenJar.

Do I need a finished specification before getting in touch?

No. Rough ideas are fine — that is the whole point of the concept stage. You describe the problem and what you want the software to do. FenJar helps turn that into a clear plan.

How much does it cost to build software with FenJar?

It depends entirely on what you want to build. A simple internal tool will cost less than a full SaaS platform with mobile apps. The paid concept session gives you a clear scope, and the build proposal gives you a fixed price before any build work starts.

What is the paid concept session?

It is a focused session where FenJar shapes your rough idea into a clear product concept — features, screens, user flow, and the simplest version worth building. You get a written document you can keep whether you proceed or not. It is paid because real scoping takes real work.

What is the difference between buy, rent, and rent-to-buy?

Buy means you pay upfront and own the software on completion. Rent means FenJar builds, hosts and maintains it while you pay monthly. Rent-to-buy spreads the cost — you pay monthly and ownership transfers at the end of the contract.

Can I start with a simple version and add features later?

Yes, and this is usually the best approach. Start with the minimum useful version, get it into the hands of real users, learn what matters, and improve from there.

Do you build mobile apps?

Yes. FenJar builds mobile apps for iOS and Android. Often that means a shared codebase using React Native or Expo, but we can also build native apps separately if the project needs it.

Do you handle hosting and deployment?

Yes. FenJar can handle servers, domains, app store submissions, databases, email setup, and everything else needed to get the product live.

What technologies do you use?

Typically React, Next.js, React Native, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Stripe, and Tailwind CSS — but the technology choice depends on what the project needs. The goal is to use proven tools that are easy to maintain.

How long does a typical build take?

It depends on scope. A simple tool might take 4–8 weeks. A full SaaS platform with mobile apps could take 3–6 months. The build proposal will include a clear timeline.

Can I see progress during the build?

Yes. You get regular updates and access to a staging version so you can see the product taking shape.

What happens after launch?

That depends on your payment model. Rent and rent-to-buy include ongoing support. Buy customers can arrange a separate support agreement. Either way, FenJar does not just build and disappear.

Are you based in the UK?

Yes. FenJar is UK-based. Clear communication, same timezone, no outsourcing surprises.

What if my idea is unusual?

Good. FenJar is built for unusual ideas — the ones that off-the-shelf software cannot handle. If you can describe the problem, there is probably a way to build the solution.
